You are the one who deals with things that you let into your body, mind, and spirit. Some people are quick to tell you what you should and should not do. Some people think that it is okay to share inappropriate pictures and make unwelcome comments. We have a right to say “No. You can keep that. That’s your mess!” If something or someone does not resonate with you, stand up for yourself.
Your Health & Life depend on you, not your acquaintance, celebrity, friend, or neighbor.
You are the one who deals with the consequences of your choices.
If I do not address disrespectful behaviors while our children are young, then I enable them to disrespect myself and others. The moment we let down our guard is the moment our child will think it is okay. I have learned to not assume that behavior will end in one day. I must be consistent in my actions and words to show them actions that edifies and destroys.
Parenting is a calling, and daily, we need to be there for our children. Corrupt behaviors do not start in adulthood. Often, we deal with adult behaviors that started in childhood. No parent is exempt, and every parent has tests. These tests are to make us a better person, and therefore, a better parent. We must have and show:
compassion (children need direction and purpose grounded in principles that help instead of hurting others)
humility (every one has tests to meet and hopefully transcend)
love (discipline according to our heart and not out of unhealed emotions)
patience (parenting is a lifelong endeavor)
understanding (we are all on a journey and experience life lessons).
Of course, there are more virtues that empower and strengthen us to meet and transcend our experiences.

Today, I planned a different blog until my heart spoke to me. Like many others across the world, when I heard of Kobe Bryant and his 13-year old girl dying in a helicopter, I searched for meaning. From what I gather, his 13-year-old girl committed to continuing his legacy, the love of basketball, and Kolbe loved his girls and wanted to link purpose and passion with sports for his girls and children around the world. Over the years, we have lost so many influential people, and there is nothing like a tragedy that brings life into a closer focus.
The question that circled in my mind yesterday was “What is life really about?” Although I was not a consistent fan of Kobe Bryant, occasionally, I watched some of the games he played and often sat in awe of such great talent. I learned a lot about Kobe Bryant yesterday and the positive things he was doing (fatherhood, helping others to live out their dreams through his studio, books, and others) and the dreams he had, even for his 13-year old daughter.
We may not understand what God does. Though, I believe that in all experiences, there lie meaning and purpose. The meaning we give to experiences is different for everyone. Many times God used great figures to get our attention. What is God trying to tell us?
I believe that, for me,
Align my actions and thoughts with God’s will and to help our children do the same.
Live in the present; therefore, when our daughter and son came charging in our room, multiple times during Kobe Bryant tributes, I took the time to address their needs.
I thanked God for life and the family he gave me.
I prayed for the world, including Kobe Bryant’s family and the others who were on the helicopter.
Nothing that we produced on earth goes with us.
We are all accountable for what we do with the gifts and talents that God gave us.
I believe that God hears our prayers, and I continue to pray for continued compassion, love, and peace for everything and everyone.

I have had better days. I did not feel well yesterday. I checked my blood pressure, and it was higher than normal. I have noticed that there seems to be a poopy day right before a breakthrough day. I can blame how I felt on hormones, low vitamin D, and others. Or, I can face the truth of what I am feeling and know that my emotions and feelings are leading me to my highest self. Without all of the busy work now, I have time to weed out things that are not working, be consistent in my thoughts and behaviors, and focus on my work as a mother, wife, and spiritual being.
This is the day to plan & prepare for the week. Schedule an hour today to write down your goals and pack some snacks, schedule your recharging sessions, a & how you will maximize your body’s natural ability to maintain balance. Your body, mind, & spirit need you to be there for them as much as you need your body, mind, & spirit to be there for you.
