Choices

Sometimes, we may think our parents are being mean when they tell us the truth. Our mom, a single mom, knew the extent of her teaching. She did not force her life’s principles on us; she left it to us, many times, to choose the best route or solution for an issue.

I inform our children that I cannot make all of your life choices. “I can help you build your foundation and give you the resources and some tools to help you along the way.”

I let our children know that I am here for them, and I do not mind sharing my knowledge and wisdom. For the age appropriate situations, though, I encourage our children to weight their options, assess advantages and disadvantages, and be decisive.

We must help our children to assess the reasons behind their choices. By helping our children to understand their core and their state of emotions and feelings, we can help empower them to be their best. I did not write to push them….but to help them from the inside out.

If we do not help our children to see the power in choices and the possible consequences, who will?

How are you helping your children learn the power of choices?

Make this life great!

Our Circumstances Do Not Define Us

Good morning Spiritual Beings!

Our circumstances do not dictate how we treat our children and others. We make a bold choice to act in love, peace, and understanding. We allow our children to see that life is a journey and lessons will be learned, we apologize quickly for our lessons learned, and help our children to see that they have a reason for being here.

Parenting is a calling & a journey to reach our highest self and help children to do the same; therefore, parenting is a win-win experience. Each day that we have breath, God entrusts us to do what is right regardless of our circumstances and how we feel.

Can you imagine the hard work that goes into making a brain, heart, organs, and tissues and embodying specific gifts and talents? God is a master storyteller. Our experiences are not in vain. You have the power to meet & transcend your life experiences.

If we are stupid, never amount to anything, a failure, and other false statements, then our Creator is stupid and without potential, as well. For, are we not made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26)?

May you know how powerful you are and stand in your power.

Make this life great—one person & one family at a time,

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans (Proverbs 16: 3).

Jesus said “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them. For the kingdom of heaven belongs such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

There is always a way to get something done

My 3-year daughter wanted to exercise this past Saturday morning. I usually walk on the treadmill on Saturdays, and walking relaxes me. I had a big presentation at my first church that day. So, I wanted to walk on the treadmill for 60 minutes, and that idea was quickly fading away as I was cleaning our house and getting our children prepared for their day. I can do for everyone else and leave myself last.

Our daughter has taken an interest in exercising. Every time I put a P90 CD in or right before bedtime, she tells me she is ready to exercise. On Saturday, when our daughter said “Mom I want to exercise.” I knew she wanted me to put in one of the P90 CDs. I briefly thought that I did not have enough time until I realized that one of my P90 CD’s ( Tim Horton Fitness), is a Saturday morning exercise that is approximately 25 minutes in length. I had 35 minutes to spare before I would start getting ready for my morning Diabetes Presentation.

I was so thankful for our daughter reminding me of one of my favorite truths. There is always a way to get something done. I enjoyed watching both our daughter and son imitating some of the moves, honoring the body with physical activity, and spending some quality family time before my Diabetes Presentation. Overall, Saturday was a great day!!!

Be creative and use your resources. Our reminders are there to help us stick to our goals.

Make today great!

Is it a priority?

#Trust that the nudge you feel to do something you love is for your greater good and the greater good of the #world. Confession: I have not been spending the time I need to make my dreams a reality. My life’s work will not be a priority in life unless I make it a priority.

Sometimes we may trivialize what we were created for. For many years, we may ask “what am I passionate about?” “What are my gifts and talents?” Yet many times, the answer is right under our noses. We may not be spending enough time with ourselves and always busy doing other things and taking on new projects that keep us far away fro figuring out our true purpose. And even when we know what that is, we may not give it the attention it needs to manifest.

What do you find yourself thinking about the most in those few seconds you are quiet and still? What brings you joy or is the thing that allows you to escape from your busy world? If it did not matter what others thought about you , or if it was not the ” in thing”, what would you do? If you did not have to worry about feeding your family or putting a roof over your head, what would you do?

I believe when we follow our hear-our true purpose, we will be taking care of mentally, physically, and financially.

Being able to provide for ourselves and our family can scare us into doing things that are far from what we enjoy and who we truly are.

However, as I remind myself today, we only get one life. Do I want to waste this life not knowing who I truly am and my purposes in life?

Do you want to waste your time pleasing others and just making money? Or do you want to be authentic and say “wow, this is my true calling. This is what I should be doing with my life.” Whatever it is that you are doing, can you say that it is your true calling? If not, then what is?

Do you want to be connected to something greater than yourself -something that energizes you or attached to something that drains you?

Only we can answer these questions for ourselves.  We must take time to get to know who we are and what fills us up and not just our pockets or closets.

What are your gifts and talents that you consider to be a hobby? Why are these gifts and talents just hobbies? Who said you could not use your gifts and talents in your career or even adventure in entrepreneurship?

Here’s to living our best life,

Timika

Trust

It is important to our health and well-being to not get caught up in what others are doing. We can start comparing our life with others, and comparison of your life and others can lead you into a downward spiral. Keep at the forefront that your journey will be different from others. We are all wired differently, yet as humans, we have the ability to relate. We can relate to others without being all caught up in what they are doing.

Where are you going?

Some people are willing to think for you and tell you what to do with your life. However, they do not feel the fire -the passion you feel inside. Are you traveling down a predetermined path or someone else’s path? Or, are you traveling along a path that compliments who you are? Our truth has a way of showing up and reminding us where we belong. Be true to who you are. It is not too late.
