Prepare for Spring Cleaning Inside & Out

Good morning Spiritual Beings!

You are the one who deals with things that you let into your body, mind, and spirit. Some people are quick to tell you what you should and should not do. Some people think that it is okay to share inappropriate pictures and make unwelcome comments. We have a right to say “No. You can keep that. That’s your mess!” If something or someone does not resonate with you, stand up for yourself.

Your Health & Life depend on you, not your acquaintance, celebrity, friend, or neighbor.

You are the one who deals with the consequences of your choices.

Listen to the wisdom within.

Is Parenting a Calling?

If I do not address disrespectful behaviors while our children are young, then I enable them to disrespect myself and others. The moment we let down our guard is the moment our child will think it is okay. I have learned to not assume that behavior will end in one day. I must be consistent in my actions and words to show them actions that edifies and destroys.

Parenting is a calling, and daily, we need to be there for our children. Corrupt behaviors do not start in adulthood. Often, we deal with adult behaviors that started in childhood. No parent is exempt, and every parent has tests. These tests are to make us a better person, and therefore, a better parent. We must have and show:

compassion (children need direction and purpose grounded in principles that help instead of hurting others)

humility (every one has tests to meet and hopefully transcend)

love (discipline according to our heart and not out of unhealed emotions)

patience (parenting is a lifelong endeavor)

understanding (we are all on a journey and experience life lessons).

Of course, there are more virtues that empower and strengthen us to meet and transcend our experiences.

Make this Life great and your Legacy, too! The generations to come depend on you.

Sincerely,

Timika

Our Circumstances Do Not Define Us

Good morning Spiritual Beings!

Our circumstances do not dictate how we treat our children and others. We make a bold choice to act in love, peace, and understanding. We allow our children to see that life is a journey and lessons will be learned, we apologize quickly for our lessons learned, and help our children to see that they have a reason for being here.

Parenting is a calling & a journey to reach our highest self and help children to do the same; therefore, parenting is a win-win experience. Each day that we have breath, God entrusts us to do what is right regardless of our circumstances and how we feel.

Can you imagine the hard work that goes into making a brain, heart, organs, and tissues and embodying specific gifts and talents? God is a master storyteller. Our experiences are not in vain. You have the power to meet & transcend your life experiences.

If we are stupid, never amount to anything, a failure, and other false statements, then our Creator is stupid and without potential, as well. For, are we not made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26)?

May you know how powerful you are and stand in your power.

Make this life great—one person & one family at a time,

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans (Proverbs 16: 3).

Jesus said “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them. For the kingdom of heaven belongs such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

What Is Life Really About?

Today, I planned a different blog until my heart spoke to me. Like many others across the world, when I heard of Kobe Bryant and his 13-year old girl dying in a helicopter, I searched for meaning. From what I gather, his 13-year-old girl committed to continuing his legacy, the love of basketball, and Kolbe loved his girls and wanted to link purpose and passion with sports for his girls and children around the world.  Over the years, we have lost so many influential people, and there is nothing like a tragedy that brings life into a closer focus.

The question that circled in my mind yesterday was “What is life really about?”  Although I was not a consistent fan of Kobe Bryant,  occasionally, I watched some of the games he played and often sat in awe of such great talent. I learned a lot about Kobe Bryant yesterday and the positive things he was doing  (fatherhood, helping others to live out their dreams through his studio, books, and others) and the dreams he had, even for his 13-year old daughter.

We may not understand what God does. Though,  I believe that in all experiences, there lie meaning and purpose.   The meaning we give to experiences is different for everyone.  Many times God used great figures to get our attention.  What is God trying to tell us?

I believe that, for me,

  1. Align my actions and thoughts with God’s will and to help our children do the same.
  2. Live in the present; therefore, when our daughter and son came charging in our room, multiple times during Kobe Bryant tributes, I took the time to address their needs.
  3. I thanked God for life and the family he gave me.
  4. I prayed for the world, including Kobe Bryant’s family and the others who were on the helicopter.
  5. Nothing that we produced on earth goes with us.
  6. We are all accountable for what we do with the gifts and talents that God gave us.

I believe that God hears our prayers, and I continue to pray for continued compassion, love, and peace for everything and everyone.

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.

Sincerely,

Timika

June is the month for men

Good morning Beautiful people! I hope your summer is off to a fantastic start.
June is the designated month for men’s health. Let’s try to remind the men in our life (brothers, uncles, nephews, husbands, significant others, fathers, and friends), the importance of taking care of their health.
Read my June blog here. I would love to hear from you. What is one thing that you see men are struggling with when it comes to their health?

The Color of My Skin

Throughout my years, I tried to make sense of nonsense,
The color of my skin took prevalence over my born innocence,
What a burden to carry even as a child,
That the color of my skin would get people so riled,
It is still a wonder to me,
Some hearts filled with animosity.
Purposed effort designed my outer shell,
Brilliantly created so that I may show and tell,
That the color of my skin should not be a disgrace,
Nor the shape of my eyes, my nose, or my lips on my face.
The color of my skin is part of His plan and His Masterpiece,
Grace, beauty, and His effervescent love surround you and me.
I am here to reveal the truth that binds the universe,
I am here, like you, to serve a divine purpose.
I am a Masterpiece in HIS own right,
Created by focused hands not blinded by sight.
A small piece of America’s rich history.
Inside and out, I reflect divine beauty,
Just glance at the things that surround us,
Trees, buildings, cars, and animals who do not fuss,
Stillness in their form without worry of their outer appearance,
Why do you still question my existence?
My desire to be me burns so deep inside,
It keeps me going when I want to hide,
Keeping myself whole and to never part,
Revealing aspirations & revelations that lie deep within my heart.
Just like you, I feel happiness, pain, and sorrow,
Blessed to live another tomorrow,
Is it so hard to see the truth that resides within?
For we are greater than the color of our skin.
