Fearfully And Wonderfully Made

No one can take your power. Many times, we give it away or hide it for fear of losing ourselves and our power. When we hide who we are, we end up losing ourselves anyway.

Reclaim the gift that God gave you by finding your place in Him.

Make this lifetime great!

Is Parenting a Calling?

If I do not address disrespectful behaviors while our children are young, then I enable them to disrespect myself and others. The moment we let down our guard is the moment our child will think it is okay. I have learned to not assume that behavior will end in one day. I must be consistent in my actions and words to show them actions that edifies and destroys.

Parenting is a calling, and daily, we need to be there for our children. Corrupt behaviors do not start in adulthood. Often, we deal with adult behaviors that started in childhood. No parent is exempt, and every parent has tests. These tests are to make us a better person, and therefore, a better parent. We must have and show:

compassion (children need direction and purpose grounded in principles that help instead of hurting others)

humility (every one has tests to meet and hopefully transcend)

love (discipline according to our heart and not out of unhealed emotions)

patience (parenting is a lifelong endeavor)

understanding (we are all on a journey and experience life lessons).

Of course, there are more virtues that empower and strengthen us to meet and transcend our experiences.

Make this Life great and your Legacy, too! The generations to come depend on you.

Sincerely,

Timika

The Color of My Skin

Throughout my years, I tried to make sense of nonsense,
The color of my skin took prevalence over my born innocence,
What a burden to carry even as a child,
That the color of my skin would get people so riled,
It is still a wonder to me,
Some hearts filled with animosity.
Purposed effort designed my outer shell,
Brilliantly created so that I may show and tell,
That the color of my skin should not be a disgrace,
Nor the shape of my eyes, my nose, or my lips on my face.
The color of my skin is part of His plan and His Masterpiece,
Grace, beauty, and His effervescent love surround you and me.
I am here to reveal the truth that binds the universe,
I am here, like you, to serve a divine purpose.
I am a Masterpiece in HIS own right,
Created by focused hands not blinded by sight.
A small piece of America’s rich history.
Inside and out, I reflect divine beauty,
Just glance at the things that surround us,
Trees, buildings, cars, and animals who do not fuss,
Stillness in their form without worry of their outer appearance,
Why do you still question my existence?
My desire to be me burns so deep inside,
It keeps me going when I want to hide,
Keeping myself whole and to never part,
Revealing aspirations & revelations that lie deep within my heart.
Just like you, I feel happiness, pain, and sorrow,
Blessed to live another tomorrow,
Is it so hard to see the truth that resides within?
For we are greater than the color of our skin.

Feelings

Our thoughts set the stage. How we feel about ourselves will be evident in how we act & speak toward ourselves and others. We must assess and analyze daily our fears, doubts, disappointments, myths, as well as those things that we are grateful for. How can we trust ourselves if we do not know who we are and what we have bottled up inside? Self-control only goes so far. Self- analysis helps us to clean out our mind and start anew so that we have better self-control.

Are you wondering why you just screamed at someone, made a derogatory comment, slammed the door, hit someone out of anger, or any other “surprising act”? If you are wondering, it may be time to look within instead of looking outside of yourself. Blaming others is typically not the answer.

Where are you going?

Some people are willing to think for you and tell you what to do with your life. However, they do not feel the fire -the passion you feel inside. Are you traveling down a predetermined path or someone else’s path? Or, are you traveling along a path that compliments who you are? Our truth has a way of showing up and reminding us where we belong. Be true to who you are. It is not too late.

Freedom

There is variety all around us..the food we eat, the clothes we wear, our coworkers, the buildings we enter, the homes we build, our families, our pets, the toys our children play with, and even the people we meet everyday. We were meant to be free-to enjoy this beautiful planet that we live on. Let’s celebrate July 4th, Independence Day with intention to live our best life in peace.

Know who you are…

Spend less time comparing yourself with others and more time appreciating who you are. Your struggles do not define you. Your mindset and the power to overcome those struggles do. I believe our experiences are not to make us bitter. Our experiences help to build character and prepare us for our journey to our best self. Our stories can educate, empower, and inspire others.
Thank you for reading!
Moving forward..
